Students will be teamed in two and, can designate their specific partner request on the Learning Styles Inventory Form.ĭesigned for students, entering Grades 5 through 8, who perform well in school with no behavioral concerns that could impact his/her ability to participate in an academically rigorous course requiring application of high-level computer programming and problem-solving skills, sustained attention to detail with completing specific assignments and project challenges, along with effective student collaboration & teamwork with innovating solutions to the problems they are posed. It is in this new programming environment that students will learn how to access and modify motors & sensors data, declare while statements with using sensors in conditionals, debug their programs in real-time, and so on.
Campers are required to first complete the pre-requisite course, Intro/Intermediate LEGO Mindstorms NXT as students will be challenged to solve for the same exact missions – with, instead, programming in RobotC! Students will be ready to move on to further applying their math and critical thinking skills in very new ways with problem-solving for their complex programming tasks in an authentic, Integrated Development Environment (IDE) requiring a strict set of grammatical rules. While students will be building a very specific tri-bot (robot), the main focus for this brand new summer camp offering is on learning an industry standard, text-based programming language.
